UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern is different from other conventional exams like UPSC CDS, AFCAT or even Civil Services Exam. Actually UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern it a combination of UPSC CDS and Civil Services Exam. This exam includes objective type questions, descriptive questions, personality test, physical tests as well as medical tests. Difficulty level of the UPSC CAPF AC Exam is above the CDS Exam and far below CSE Exam!

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern
UPSC CAPF Exam is conducted in 3 Main stages:
- Written Examination (Objective + Descriptive)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Test
- Interview/Personality Test
(i) UPSC CAPF Written Exam: The written examination is generally conducted in the month of August which comprises of two papers, i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II.
Paper-I: General Ability and Intelligence – 250 Marks which is an objective type paper (multiple choice) in which the questions will be asked in English as well as Hindi.
Paper-II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 Marks (Descriptive Paper) Precis Writing, Comprehension, and other communications/language skills is available only in English.

UPSC CAPF Written exam Cut Off Ranges from 190-210 Marks for General Candidate (Out of 450 Marks). So, Try to score around 200 Marks to be on a safer side!

UPSC CAPF Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Test
After clearing the written exam, you have to face Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Test.100 Meters race, 800 Meter Race, Long Jump, Shot Put (7.26 Kgs.), etc are some PET Tests. The completion criteria for Men and Women are different. Let’s have a look.

UPSC CAPF Personality Test
Candidates who have cleared the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Tests, you will be called for Personality Test. It is a 150 Marks test where your personality will be tested. UPSC CAPF interview is conducted at the UPSC office premises in New Delhi. Personal background, Educational Qualification, Important National and International issues and current events need to be studied with detailed analysis and personal views must be developed for scoring well in personality Test.
UPSC CAPF AC Final Merit List
After the Personality Test/Interview, UPSC will declare the final UPSC CAPF Result in the form of Final Merit List. Marks secured in the Written exam (out of 450) and Personal Interview (out of 150) are cumulated to create Final Merit List Out of 600 Marks.
And depending upon your All India Rank, Vacancies and your preferences, various forces will be alloted.
