Today we will address one of the most commonly asked questions by many CDS, CAPF and CSE aspirants, that is, UPSC CAPF Age Limit for Assitant Commandant Exam. We have covered the UPSC CAPF Eligibility in previous articles which contain many more details other than CAPF Age Limit 2020-21 like educational qualification, physical eligibility, etc.

In UPSC CAPF Exam, most confusing part is the age limit UPSC CAPF Exam. So, we will focus more on age limit part. Rather than focusing on just upper age limit of CAPF exam, we will also see age relaxations which are available for SC, ST, OBC, Central Government employees and Ex-Servicemen. So, keep patience till the end of this article for 100% clarity.

CAPF Age Limit 2021

Before beginning with actual UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2021, I would like to tell you that due to COVID-19 Pandemic, there is a probability that CAPF Exam gets cancelled (extreme case). In such case, your attempt will not go waste. UPSC will increase the age limit so that no aspirant suffers due to exam cancellation. So, please do not worry about loss of attempt!

For Example: If 2022 was your last attempt, then it will be 2023 if exams are cancelled. So, keep your main focus only on CAPF Preparation!

UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2021

UPSC CAPF Age Limit: 20-25 Years of Age

You can appear for UPSC CAPF Exam at the age of 20, if you have completed graduation or even if you are in last year of your graduation. Your upper age limit for UPSC CAPF exam is 25 years, but you must know that you need to be 25 years old at the time of joining the academy. So, your last attempt will be when you are 24 years old (hopefully you understood).

UPSC CAPF Age Limit for upcoming 4 Attempts (Upcoming 4 years)

  • UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2019: Your Date of Birth must be between 2nd August, 1994 and 1st August, 1999
  • UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2020: Your Date of Birth must be between 2nd August, 1995 and 1st August, 2000
  • UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2021: Your Date of Birth must be between 2nd August, 1996 and 1st August, 2001
  • UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2022: Your Date of Birth must be between 2nd August, 1997 and 1st August, 2002
  • UPSC CAPF Age Limit 2023: Your Date of Birth must be between 2nd August, 1998 and 1st August, 2003

UPSC CAPF Age Relaxation

Various Categories Upper Age Limit of CAPF
General 25 years, No relaxation
OBC 3 years Relaxation i.e. 28 years
SC/ST 5 Years Relaxation i.e. 30 Years
J&K Domiciled 5 Years Relaxation i.e. 30 Years
Ex-Servicemen Commissioned officer 5 Years Relaxation i.e. 30 Years
Civilian Central Government servants 5 Years Relaxation i.e. 30 Years

Note: If you belong to OBC category, then you can take benefits only if you belong to Non-Creamy Layer’ Category. Otherwise, you will be treated as General Candidate. So, check whether you are eligible to take benefits of OBC Category or not.

Number of Attempts for CAPF exam

UPSC Civil Services exam has 6 Attempts for candidate belonging to Open Category. But thats not the case with UPSC CAPF Exam.

  • Number of Attempts for CAPF Exam= Unlimited (as far as you are within the age limit specified for each category)
  • You can give your first attempt at the age of 20 years (when you are in last year of your graduation)
