NDA Eligibility 2020 (Age Limit, Attempts)

NDA exam is conducted after 12th standard for recruitment of officers in Indian Armed forces. In fact, after clearing the NDA exam, candidates are given a training of 3 years at National Defence Academy and then they are sent for specialized training of 1 year in respective academies like IMA, INA, AFA, etc.

But what is NDA eligibility? Who can apply for NDA exam? What is the age limit and educational qualification of NDA exam? Number of attempts? etc.

In order to be eligible for the NDA exam, you need to fulfill 4 basic requirements.

NDA Medical and physical requirements are not checked initially during written exam, but its recommended to do these SSB Medical tests before applying for exam. Because if you are not medically or physically fit, then there is no point of giving this year long process of NDA exam.

If you want to apply for NDA exam, then you must be: 

• a citizen of India (or)
• a subject of Bhutan (or)
• a subject of Nepal (or)
• a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January,
  1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India

National Defence Academy is a joint Military training Institute where cadets of different all branches are trained. So, is there different eligibility for different branches?

• There is no different eligibility for different branches in terms of Age
• But Educational Quailification reqirement is different for different branches (Army, Navy and Air Force)

• You can also apply for NDA exam when you are perceiving 12th Boards (in 12th std)
• Diploma candidates are not permitted for NDA exam. You need to be 12th pass before joining NDA.
• Candidates of Science, Commerce as well as Arts stream can apply for NDA exam.
