    Hello defence aspirants. If you are a defence aspirant and have graduated recently, you are so lucky as you have 1 additional exam to join Indian armed forces which was not available before 2019. Earlier, Indian Navy use to directly shortlist the candidates based on their Graduation marks which was a drawback for many aspirants. But now you have various opportunities to join forces after graduation, that is, UPSC CDS, AFCAT Exam, NCC Entry, Technical Entry, Territorial Army, INET Exam, etc.

    Being a new exam, it becomes crucial to understand INET Exam Pattern 2020 in detail so that you do a targeted and exam oriented study.     What is INET Exam?

    INET Full Form= “Indian Navy Entrance Test“

    Other defence exams like UPSC CDS, UPSC NDA are conducted by Union Public Service Commission. But the INET Exam is conducted by Indian Navy to recruit officers in the Executive Branch, Technical Branch and Educational Branch of Indian Navy. INET exam can be compared with AFCAT exam in terms of conducting exam and recruiting officers in various departments. You can join Permanent Commission as well as Short Service Commission in Indian Navy via INET Exam. 

    INET Exam has began in 2019 and it was First conducted in September 2019!

    INET Exam Pattern 2020

    INET Exam is a computer-based examination conducted for selection of Direct Entry Officers for candidates who have completed graduation. INET Exam is conducted in exam centers all over India in mutliple shifts. You need to give exam at exam center and your result will be declared roughly around 30-40 days after the written exam. 

    INET Written Exam is conducted twice a year (In September and February). INET Exam is also conducted in 3 stages (similar to AFCAT) which include:

    • INET Written Exam
    • SSB Interview
    • Clearing SSB Medicals and Final Merit List

    You need to prepare for various stages of INET Exam in a comprehensive way (and not in isolated manner). Complete INET Exam is a 8-9 months process. So, you need to keep consistency and perseverance for large span of time.

    INET Written exam consists of single paper which has 4 different sections as follows:

    Now, let us see the INET Exam Pattern Facts which will help you to manage time:

    Time for INET Written Exam 120 Minutes to solve 100 Questions
    Time to Solve 1 Question 72 Seconds
    If you will aim to solve 80 Questions /100, then time for each Question: (Recommended) 90 seconds

    Candidates are required to score overall 50% marks in the INET Exam and have to score minimum 40% marks in each section ! (Toughest criteria of INET Exam Pattern)

    As INET Exam was first time conducted in 2019, many aspirants were not aware of it. So, applications recieved were less. moreover, many aspirants recieved less number of marks as expected. So, INET Overall Cut Off as well as Sectional Cut off was decreased!

    INET Cut Off Marks (Last Year) :

    Subject Sectional Cut Off
    English 20 Marks 
    General Knowledge 10 Marks 
    Reasoning and Numerical Ability 20 Marks 
    General Science and Mathematical Aptitude 10 Marks 
    Overall Cut Off 100 Marks (Out of 400)

    But INET Cut off 2020 will definitely rise. (Sectional Cut off as well as Overall Cutoff). So, prepare in detailed manner to score 180-200 Marks to be on a safer side (and sectional cut off of 20% Marks)

    How to apply for INET Exam ?

    INET Exam Notification will be released 2 times in a year. You need to register only once on the official website by filling personal, communication and educational details and uploading necessary documents. After that, based on your eligibility for the INET Exam, you will automatically receive email alerts on registered mail ID when application of INET Exam will be released!
